Who is responsible for your data
Elite Moving is the trading name of EMV London Ltd, a removals and storage company registered in England and Wales (company number 13346331). Our registered office is 118 Godalming Avenue, Wallington, SM6 8NW. EMV London Ltd is the "controller" of the personal data described in this policy. That means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for keeping it safe under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
If you have any question about your data, or you want to use any of your rights, email us at info@elitemoving.co.uk, call 020 8044 4474, or write to us at the address above.
The personal data we collect from you
We collect data in a few simple ways. Most of it comes straight from you.
When you ask for a quote
Our quote form asks for your name, email address, phone number, the date you want to move, and the addresses you are moving from and to. You can also tell us about your belongings or anything special about the move. We use this to work out a price, to plan the job and to contact you about it.
When you sign up for our emails
If you enter your email address in the sign-up box on our blog, we receive your email address and nothing else. We use it to send you moving tips and news from Elite Moving. Every email lets you stop at any time, or you can simply email us and ask.
When you call, email, message or chat with us
If you phone us, email us, message us on WhatsApp or use the live chat on our website, we receive whatever you choose to share. That is usually your name, how to reach you and details about your move. We use it to answer you.
When you browse our website
Our web host keeps short server logs. These record things like your IP address, the page you asked for and the time. They help keep the site secure and working. If you accept cookies, we also use Google Analytics to see how people use the site as a whole, for example which pages are popular. Our cookie policy explains this in full.
When you book a move
If you book with us, we also keep the details we need to carry out the job and to get paid. This includes invoices, payment records, any inventory of your goods and notes about access at each address. We do not keep your full card details.
Why we use your data and our legal reasons
The law says we must have a clear reason, called a "lawful basis", for each way we use your data. These are ours.
- To quote for and carry out your move. This is needed to take steps you have asked for before a contract, and then to perform the contract (contract).
- To answer your calls, emails and chat messages. We have a fair interest in replying to people who contact us (legitimate interests).
- To send you our emails. We only do this because you signed up (consent). You can withdraw consent at any time.
- To measure how our website is used. We only use analytics and chat cookies if you accept them in our cookie banner (consent).
- To keep business and tax records. The law requires us to keep certain records (legal obligation).
- To keep the website safe. We have a fair interest in stopping misuse and spam (legitimate interests). Our email sign-up form uses simple spam checks and does not store your details on the website.
Who we share your data with
We never sell your personal data. We only share it with trusted companies that help us run our business, and only as much as they need. They must keep it safe and may only use it for the job we give them.
- i-mve provides the removals software behind our quote form. Your quote details go into it so we can price and plan your move.
- 20i hosts our website and email. Server logs and emails sent through the site pass through their systems.
- Google provides Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Translate and the maps on our pages. These only load if you accept cookies. The customer reviews shown on our pages are copied from our Google Business listing; no reviewer data is loaded from Google when you view them.
- Tawk.to runs our live chat. If you accept cookies and chat with us, your messages go through their service.
- Gravatar, run by Automattic, supplies the small author pictures on some blog posts.
- WhatsApp, owned by Meta, handles any message you choose to send us on WhatsApp, under its own privacy policy.
We may also share data if the law requires it, for example with HMRC, or to protect our rights in a legal claim. If you move abroad with us, we share the details needed with partners and customs agents who help move your goods to your new home.
Sending data outside the UK
Some of the companies above, such as Google, Tawk.to and Meta, may store or handle data outside the UK, for example in the United States. When that happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards that UK law accepts. These include the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the standard contract terms approved for the UK. For a move to Europe or further afield, we have to share the details needed with the people at the other end so your goods can be delivered.
How long we keep your personal data
- Quote requests that do not turn into a booking: only as long as we need them to answer you and follow up on the quote.
- Booked moves: up to six years after the move, because UK tax rules require us to keep business records and because a claim could be made in that time.
- Email sign-ups: until you ask us to stop or unsubscribe.
- Chat messages and emails: only as long as we need them to deal with your question or your move.
- Server logs: kept for a short time by our web host for security, then deleted.
When we no longer need your data, we delete it or make it anonymous.
Your data protection rights
You have strong rights over your personal data. You can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- delete your data, where we do not need to keep it by law;
- limit how we use it, or stop using it, in some cases;
- send it to you or to another company in a common format;
- stop sending you emails, at any time and for free.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it. To use any of these rights, email info@elitemoving.co.uk. We will reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so we never give your data to the wrong person.
Keeping your information safe
We take sensible steps to protect your data. Our website runs over a secure connection (HTTPS). Only people who need your details to help with your move can see them. Our email sign-up form does not save your details on the website; it simply passes your address to our inbox. If a data breach ever put you at serious risk, we would tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office as the law requires.
Children's data
Our services are for adults arranging a move. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 through this website.
Links to other websites
Our pages link to other websites, such as local councils, shops and attractions near the places we serve. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your data, so please read their own privacy policies.
Complaints and changes to this policy
If you are unhappy with how we have used your data, please tell us first at info@elitemoving.co.uk and we will do our best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new service. The date at the top shows when it last changed. You can also read our cookie policy and our terms and conditions.
Privacy Policy FAQ: How Elite Moving Uses Your Data
Does Elite Moving sell my personal data?
No. We never sell your personal data to anyone. We only share it with the companies that help us run our business, such as the software behind our quote form and the firm that hosts our website. We only give them as much as they need to do that job, and they must keep it safe.
What happens to the details I enter in the quote form?
They go to our removals software so we can work out your quote and plan your move. We use them to contact you about that quote. If you do not book with us, we only keep them for as long as we need to follow up, and then we delete them.
How do I stop receiving marketing emails from Elite Moving?
Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails, or email info@elitemoving.co.uk and ask us to stop. We will take you off our list straight away. It is always free, and it will not affect any move you have booked with us.
How can I get a copy of my data or have it deleted?
Email info@elitemoving.co.uk with your request. We will reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so your data never goes to the wrong person. You can also ask us to correct details that are wrong, at no cost.
Who can I complain to about how my data is used?
Please talk to us first by emailing info@elitemoving.co.uk, as we would like the chance to put things right. If you are still unhappy, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, which looks after data protection in the UK.

Was running out of time finding movers when I came across Elite. Gave me a quote fairly quick and was willing to match another company's. Unfortunately, I had to book one sharpish, so I did not book them, but from my interaction with them and how they tries their best I give them 5 stars.
Elite Moving recently moved us to our new house and they were brilliant. Efficient, polite, professional, careful and just all round really helpful (they also moved us and reassembled our furniture in one day when a competitor told us they would need at least two!). I don't know how we'd have got through the day without them and also felt they were really good value. Would not hesitate to recommend.
Very helpful crew, cheerful and punctual
Elite Moving were very helpful and willing to work around a difficult setting! Would recommend.
I’m grateful to have this great service run
Vijay and his teams did an excellent job getting an enormous quantity of my family’s stuff out of the old flat, into storage and then into the new flat. They worked hard all day and didn’t complain once, despite the absence of a lift in the destination building.
