Every white glove move starts with a survey, in person or by video. We look at each item that needs special care and note its size, weight and how fragile it is. We also check access at both homes, such as stairs, lifts, narrow doors and parking. This lets us plan the right packing, the right vehicle and the right number of people.
On packing day, our team wraps each item in materials that suit it. Glass and china are wrapped one piece at a time. Paintings and mirrors go into padded cartons or made-to-measure crates. Large furniture is covered in soft blankets, and fragile legs or handles are taken off and packed on their own where needed.
At your new home, we unpack, place and set up each item where you want it. We can hang pictures, rebuild furniture and take away all the packing waste, so you walk into a home that is ready to use.
Pianos, safes and very heavy pieces need extra people and kit, such as skids, straps and trolleys. We plan these items first, as they shape how the van is loaded and how long the move takes.
Make a list of your most valuable and fragile items and share it with us before the survey. If you have photos, receipts or valuations, keep them to hand, as they help with insurance. Take your own photos of high-value items before the move, so you have a record of their condition.
Think about where each item will go in your new home. A simple floor plan with notes such as "piano by the window" or "cabinet in the dining room" helps our team place everything first time, without moving heavy items twice.
Keep jewellery, cash, passports and key papers with you rather than in the van. If your new home is not ready, our secure storage can keep your items safe until it is. For more help with fragile items, see our packing service, or call us on 07428474474 or 02080444474.
On the day, it helps to have one person at each home who can answer questions and say where things go. Clear a path through each room, and move rugs or small items out of the way so our team can carry large pieces safely. If you have pets or small children, plan for them to be somewhere quiet while we work, as doors will be open a lot.
