Milan is a big city with busy streets, trams and lots of limited traffic zones in the centre. Some streets only let certain vehicles in at certain times. Before your move, we look at your new address and plan the best way in. In some areas, you may need a permit from the local council to park a removal van on the street. Ask your landlord or building manager about this early, as it can take a little time to arrange.
Many homes in the city are flats in older buildings. These often have a courtyard, a small lift and stairs that turn tightly. Large sofas, wardrobes and beds may not fit in the lift. We can take these apart before the move and put them back together in your new home. Tell us about your building in good time, so we can plan the right number of movers.
It also helps to agree a time with your building manager or neighbours. Some blocks have quiet hours or rules about when you can use the lift for a move. Letting people know ahead of time makes the day go more smoothly for everyone.
Start by sorting your home room by room. Decide what to take, what to sell and what to give away. Moving less means a lower cost and a quicker job. Then book a survey with us, in person or by video, so we can see what you have and give you a clear quote.
Next, gather your papers. Keep your passport, your list of goods and any proof of your new address in one safe folder. If you plan to bring your things in without tax, check the current Italian rules early. We can explain what we need from you and when.
A few weeks before the move, start packing the things you use least, or book our packing service to do it for you. Pack a bag of things you will need on the first night, such as clothes, chargers, medicine and a few kitchen basics. Keep it with you, not in the van.
On moving day, we load your things with care and check the list with you. Your things then travel to Milan, and we keep you updated on the way. When we arrive, we place each item in the right room and rebuild your furniture. If your new home is not ready yet, we can keep your things in secure storage until it is.
Italy is in the EU, so a move from the UK now needs customs papers. You will usually need a full list of your goods, your passport and proof of your new address in Italy. Some people can bring their things in without tax under transfer of residence rules. Check the current rules, and we will help with the forms.
Yes. Many homes in central Milan are flats in older blocks with a shared courtyard, a small lift or narrow stairs. We ask about your building before the move. That way we can bring the right size of van and enough movers, and plan how to get large items in safely.
Often, yes. With a shared or part-load move, your things travel with other loads going to Italy, so you only pay for the space you use. It suits smaller moves and people with some time to spare. If you need fixed dates, a dedicated van for your things alone is the better choice.
Yes. We move desks, files, IT kit and office furniture to Milan. We label each item so it goes to the right room, and we can work out of hours to cut downtime. We also help with the customs papers your business needs, so your team can get back to work quickly.
